Ceramic Coating

What is Ceramic Coating?

To put it simply, Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer made up of Ceramic particles,
which hardens and chemically bonds to your vehicle’s paint once it has cured. It is applied
by hand with a special applicator and a specialized technique. The application process is timely
and requires meticulous vehicle preparation for the outcome to be fully functional with a
first-class smooth and shiny appearance.  This labor intensive, multi-step process is one of
the reasons for the cost of a ceramic coating application. The coating is considered to be
“semi-permanent”, lasting several years. How long is several years?  Well that depends
on how your particular vehicle is used. This is one way to think of it: It acts as a new layer
of protective clear coat with many more improvements (visually and functionally), over
your car’s existing clear coat.
What Are The Benefits of Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic Coating provides many benefits. The increased gloss of your cars paint is going to be incredible, but hardly the only thing these coatings provide you. It is extremely water repellent. It gives your paint a greater resistance to light scratching such as the seemingly unavoidable swirl marks left from any touching of the paint (i.e. washing, drying, dusting, etc).  Ceramic Coating contains UV blockers to block harmful UV rays that are exposed to your car’s paint and prevents oxidizing and paint fading. It makes upkeep of your car’s paint quicker and much easier as the cleaning process will be faster due to element particles expelling off the coating with ease.  One major benefit is there will be no need for waxing your car once it has been Ceramic Coated! Your car’s paint is not the only thing that can be protected by Ceramic Coating: You can have the windows and wheels ceramic coated as well! This will make cleaning brake dust off of your wheels much easier (an especially nice benefit if you have a car with high performance brakes that leave a lot of dust on the wheels), and your windows will repel water better, for increased visibility in the rain.
How to have your car Coated?

Look for Professional Detailers who have experience doing Ceramic Coating and were professionally trained. An overlooked factor that plays a large role in how the end result of your Ceramic Coating will turn out is the quality of the prep work. It is crucial to have an experienced detailer who can perform a full paint correction on the car before applying the Ceramic product. If the paint is not corrected to as perfect as possible before it is applied, any imperfections will be sealed underneath the Ceramic Coating for years.  This makes the quality of meticulous prep work very key for outcome.  Lastly, make sure the installer is using a high-end Ceramic Coating product. Look for installers using a product with a 9h hardness, meaning the coating has the highest scratch resistance possible (most standard vehicle clear coats have a hardness rating between 4 and 6).

Ceramic Coating is the most raved new vehicle trend trending right now when it comes to paint protection. Thanks to advances in technology as well as improved application processes, the price of having a car Ceramic Coated has come down significantly since it was first introduced. Although it may not prevent rock chips like a clear vinyl film will, we all know how bad those films can look after just a short period of time on a car. To maximize protection if you are concerned about rock chips, you can opt to have a clear film placed on the front of the car, and the Ceramic Coating can always be applied over top of it. Ceramic Coating is especially recommended if you have a dark colored car and are very particular with the condition of the paint on it. After seeing many completed Ceramic Coating jobs, and owning a coated car myself, Ceramic Coating is the best way to protect the exterior of your vehicle investment, even increasing the value by the flawless paint appearance.
